CHK America, specialists in the visual communication of passenger information, recently completed a second project for the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority to design new line guides for the area’s 40 bus routes. That announcement was made today by Frederick A. Wood, President and CEO, CHK America.

Delivering on CHK America’s strategy to provide consistent passenger information across an entire communications campaign, the 40 new pocket-sized line guides replace the agencies existing one-color guides and feature color-coded routes that match the System-Wide map created by CHK last year. The new line guides also feature more detailed maps and timetables to improve passengers understanding of the services available to them.

“We are delighted to continue our work with the Nashville MTA to develop consistent passenger information across their Trip Planning and On-the-Go reference materials,” says Wood. “Consistency across all passenger reference guides is an essential tool to ensure that passengers can easily understand the services being offered to them.”

“We are receiving very positive feedback from our customers and staff about the more-detailed and easier to read schedules. This project was a tremendous undertaking, but with CHK’s positive attitude and professional staff, we were able to complete the project on time and have the schedules available to our customers before our new system changes went into effect,” Nashville MTA Communications Director Patricia Harris-Morehead said.

Established in September 1999, CHK America provides passenger information solutions to the public transportation industry, in addition to delivering cartographic products and services across other business sectors. CHK America, a division of United Kingdom based Cook, Hammond and Kell, was established to expand the reach of its parent company’s products across the US. CHK’s products and services have been distributed extensively across Europe for over 140 years. Other companies in the group include Cook, Hammond and Kell, FWT Studios, Oxford Cartographers, National Map Center London, National Map Center Dublin. Through its transportation network of 40 local and express routes, the Nashville MTA provides public transportation services to citizens and visitors within the Metropolitan Nashville area. The agency also has contracts with the Regional Transportation Authority to run bus service to three areas outside of Davidson County and provides special door- to-door paratransit services for people with disabilities and those who are unable to ride the local and express buses through its AccessRide program.
