SANTA BARBARA, CA (20 July, 2004) Santa Barbara based CHK America, specialists in the visual communication of passenger information, has been selected by the Glendale Beeline to design a new system map focusing on the Beeline and its connectivity with all other transit routes, including MTA, Metrolink, and LADOT. In addition, the map will include major landmarks, geographic features, and points of interest within the Beeline’s service area.

“We are pleased to have been awarded this project as the Beeline celebrates its 20th year of service,” said Frederick A. Wood, president and CEO of CHK America. “The Beeline offers a strong network of circulator routes in and around the city, and we are excited about helping riders take full advantage of the services available.”

The Glendale Beeline network serves both sides of the Verdugo Mountains, connecting Central Glendale with Montrose, La Crescenta, and La Canada-Flintridge. In addition, it serves the San Fernando Road corridor between the Glendale and Burbank Metrolink stations. The Beeline serves all of the major points of attraction within the City, including the Glendale Galleria, Glendale Fashion Center, Civic Center, Civic Auditorium, and the busy Central Avenue/Brand Boulevard business corridor. The major transit hub is at the Glendale Transportation Center, which is also served by Metrolink, Amtrak, and Greyhound.

“A well designed system map is essential for communicating the ease and convenience of using public transit,” stated Jano Baghdanian, traffic and transportation administrator for the City of Glendale. “We are confident CHK America has the knowledge and experience to develop just what we need.”

The system map will be created in two sizes. The larger size, measuring 25.5” x 27.5,” will be posted for viewing at various locations. The smaller version, measuring 9” x 15,” will be folded into a pocket map the size of a business card, providing easy reference for travelers. The pocket guides will be available at schedule distribution locations throughout the Beeline’s service area.

Established in September 1999, CHK America provides passenger information solutions to the public transportation industry. CHK America’s current client list includes Los Angeles County MTA, Austin Capital Metro, Nashville MTA, San Antonio VIA, City of Pasadena, and Transport for London.
